Contrast Between the UK, Great Britain, and England While numerous individuals utilize the terms United Kingdom, Great Britain, and England conversely, there is a distinction between them-one is a nation, the second is an island, and the third is a piece of an island. The United Kingdom The United Kingdomâ is a free nation off the northwestern shore of Europe. It comprises of the whole island of Great Britain and a northern piece of the island of Ireland. Truth be told, the official name of the nation is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The capital city of the United Kingdom is London and the head of state is right now Queen Elizabeth II. The United Kingdom is one of the establishing individuals from the United Nations and sits on the United Nations Security Council. The production of the United Kingdom proclaims back to 1801 when the unification between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland prompted the foundation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. At the point when southern Ireland picked up autonomy during the 1920s, the name of the cutting edge nation at that point turned into the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.â Incredible Britain Incredible Britain is the name of the island northwest of France and east of Ireland. A great part of the United Kingdom comprises of the island of Great Britain. On the huge island of Great Britain, there are three fairly independent locales: England, Wales, and Scotland. Incredible Britain is the ninth biggest island on Earth and has a region ofâ 80,823 square miles (209,331 square kilometers). Britain involves the southeast segment of the island of Great Britain, Wales is in the southwest, and Scotland is in the north. Scotland and Wales are not free nations but rather have some prudence from the United Kingdom regarding inward administration. Britain Britain is situated in the southern piece of the island of Great Britain, which is a piece of the nation of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom incorporates the regulatory areas of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Every district shifts in its degree of independence yet all piece of the United Kingdom. More About The 1968 Tet Offensive Essays - Vietnam War,
Progressively About The 1968 Tet Offensive For a few thousand years, Vietnamese Lunar New Year has been a conventional festival that brings the Vietnamese a feeling of bliss, expectation and harmony. Be that as it may, lately, It moreover bring back a severe memory loaded with tears. It reminds them the 1968 gore, a bloodiest military battle of the Vietnam War the North Communists propelled against the South. The general hostile and general uprising of the north checked the sharp turn of the Vietnam War. Today there have been an extraordinary number of compositions about this occasion. In any case, it appears that numerous key realities in the Communist crusade are still confused or ignored. In the mid-80, living in Saigon in the wake of being discharged from the Socialist re-instruction camp, I read a book distributed in the mid 1980's in America about the tale of the 1968 Tet Hostile. It said that the North Vietnamese Army preeminent order had imitated one of the best legends of Vietnam, King Quang Trung, who prevailed upon the most dynamite triumph the Chinese aggressors in the 1789 counter-assault - in arranging the 1968 activities. The book cited King Quang Trung's strategy of shock. He let the troops commend the 1789 Tet Festival one day ahead with the goal that he could dispatch the assaults on the initial three days of the lunar new year while the Chinese soldiers were all the while devouring and not prepared to arrange their barrier. The individuals who guaranteed the comparability between the two crusades absolutely didn't have the foggiest idea about every bit of relevant information, yet hopped into end with wild creative mind in the wake of discovering that the North Vietnamese assaulting units additionally observed Tet one day ahead prior to the assaults. Truth be told, the Tet Offensive broke out on the Tet's Eve - in the early morning of January 30, 1968 at numerous urban communities of Central Vietnam, for example, Da Nang and Qui Nhon, just as urban areas in the focal beach front and good country regions, that existed in the Socialist fifth Military Region.. Different urban areas toward the south that included Saigon, were assaulted 24 hours after the fact at the little long periods of January 31. In this manner the hostile lost its component of aggregate shock that each strategist needs to regard. However, It shocked me that some in the American media were still ignorant of such disastrous story. The story began around 5 months already. On August 8, 1967, the North Vietnam government affirmed a lunar schedule explicitly gathered for the seventh time zone that covers all Vietnam, supplanting the conventional lunar schedule that had been being used in Asia for a long time. That old schedule was determined for the eighth time zone that Beijing falls directly in the center. It was acknowledged as a rule by a couple of countries, for example, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and fairly in Japan and Korea, generally for conventional festivals furthermore, strict purposes. South Vietnam utilized this schedule. With basic social beginning, these nations required not have their own schedule, especially it has not been utilized for logical and authoritative exercises. The North Vietnam new lunar schedule contrasts from the normal schedule about certain dates, for example, the jump a very long time of certain year (1984 and 1987) and the Tet's Eve of the three Lunar New A long time: Mau Than (1968), Ky Dau (1969) and At Suu (1985). South Vietnam praised the principal day of the Mau Than lunar year on January 30, 1968, while North Vietnam praised it on Jan 29, 1968. It was clearly that the North Vietnamese pioneers had requested the offensives to be propelled the evening of the primary day of Tet to take the targets by all out astonishment. By some explanation, the North Vietnamese Army Supreme Command didn't know about the reality that there were various dates for Tet among North and South Vietnam. Along these lines, most NVA units in the Communist fifth Military Locale - closer to North Vietnam - most likely utilized North Vietnamese schedule, and directed their assaults in the night between Jan 29 what's more, 30, while their confidants more distant toward the south assaulted in the night from Jan 30 to 31. Numerous in the knowledge part of the South Vietnamese Armed Powers were very much aware of the motivation behind why the Communist powers propelled their assaults at two distinct dates. Data from sources among NVA detainees of war and ralliers about the new schedule of North Vietnam ought to have been ignored by the American side. The data was likewise accessible in communicated from Hanoi Radio. In military activities, nothing is a higher priority than shock. So the Communist powers lost their favorable position of shock on additional than half of the targets. Had the Vietnamese Communists directed their organized assaults at a similar H-hour, South Vietnam would have

Here is our guide about what the perfect summary should look like. This section of your resume should serve as an introduction to your resume, so keep it short and mention only the most important details about yourself you would like to highlight. But, don’t keep it so short that it loses its purpose and makes it seem like you have nothing valuable to mention about yourself. The ideal length of this section is 3 or 4 sentences. Don’t go lon ger â€" that’s what the rest of your resume is for, and summary should be only the introduction. The perfect summary should include a couple of things. First is the professional title you have, which will make it clear that you are applying for the position relevant to your title. The next thing you should write in this section is your most honorable achievements in the field you’re in.You should finish the summary with some professional goals you have and want to fulfill through the job you’re hoping to get.SummaryGeneral management graduate with proven organizational, communication and event planning skills and over 2 years of experience. RightHOW TO WRITE THE PERFECT EXPERIENCE SECTION OF YOUR VIRTUAL ASSISTANT RESUMEYou can have all the experience in the world as a virtual assistant, but if you can’t present it right to your potential employer, you’re chances of getting the job are pretty low. That’s why you should invest a lot of time and effort into writing the experience section of your resume. This could easily be the most important part of the whole C V since employers tend to give it the most attention. What they want to get out of this section is what you’ve learned through the experiences and whether those skills and achievements could apply to the position.Of course, what this section ideally contains is details about your previous jobs and employers, the duration of time you spent at those positions and your main responsibilities. This information can have a huge saying in whether you get your wanted position or not, so let us guide you through how it all should look like.First, let’s talk about the structure of this section. If you think that it should be the longest one, and provide as many information as possible just to make it seem you have a ton of experience, think again.Forget about the lengthy paragraphs of text â€" they can be tiring and overcomplicated.Instead stick to bullet points that help in presenting the experiences you had in the best way possible, without getting lost in sentences and paragraphs. Also, te xt structured in this way will capture the employers attention much easier and draw it to the most important parts. One more thing is really important when it comes to the structure, and that is the reverse-chronological order. What this means is that you should start the section with the most recent positions you had and continue to the earlier ones. You’re probably wondering how you should list the experiences you’ve had.One logical and must-have piece of information is the companies or employers you’ve worked for, but you should add a couple of other facts. We highly recommend adding more information about the positions instead of just naming the employer you worked for.For example, writing the duration of time you spent at a position can benefit you since persons with multiple years of experience have higher chances of getting the job.In addition to the time invested in a certain position, it’s recommended to add the achievements and contribution to those job positions you h ad.The best way to write this is by presenting the challenges you had to overcome, the way you did it and the results you got. This is also the perfect place to better present the contributions to the positions you had by including percentages, time in which you achieved a goal or similar numbers that better describe your achievements.ExperienceKept contact and good communication with over 20 clients.Arranged daily meetings for over 5 business executives.Helped in educating the new staff on a monthly basis. RightExperiencePerformed various administrative work. WrongHOW TO WRITE THE PERFECT EDUCATION SECTION OF YOUR VIRTUAL ASSISTANT RESUMEThe education section may not seem as important as the experience section, but it can still have a positive effect on the way your employer sees you.Apart from showcasing your achievements in high school and university and the clubs you’ve been a part of, having a degree higher than a high school one shows you have patience, determination and am bitiousness â€" all qualities valuable for any job position. Most important information about your degree is the duration of your time spent acquiring it, the degree specifications, and the location of your studies. Here’s what it should look like: RightThe bullet points, as here in this example, should contain achievements and activities relevant to the position you’re applying for, so feel free to add them to this section.Listing your GPA should be done only if its value is above-average.In case you’re still attending college, you can write that like this: RightDon’t feel bad if you never went to college and you only have a high school degree. In that case, focus on writing the experience and skill sections as best as you can, and use them instead of your education in your advantage. Remember to add seminars and courses you took in the field you wish to work in.HOW TO WRITE THE PERFECT SKILLS SECTION OF YOUR VIRTUAL ASSISTANT RESUMEThis section is one of those with the highest chances of being closely looked at by the employer, so you should want to make it as good as possible. In a perfect scenario, a virtual assistant is a person capable of managing several different administrative tasks, and do it efficiently and i n a well-organized way.In addition, they are expected to know how to do basically anything and possess multiple office-managing skills. When it comes to the set of skills you possess, they are probably not all relevant to the position of a virtual assistant. Before deciding which ones to put in your resume, think about what a virtual assistant should be like, which skills are necessary to perform the job in the best way possible, and which ones are not as relevant. For example, you could possess great photography skills, but are they going to help you with the virtual assistant position?Once again, as in the most sections, you should rely on bullet points. This way the resume stays easy to read and captures the attention of the person reading it much quicker. In addition to that, list the skills in order of importance. First write the ones most relevant to the position, in order to make them stand out.We would like to point out the difference between skills since not all belong to the sa me category. You may have heard of soft skills â€" ones connected with interactions between people, and hard skills â€" ones you can learn by doing a course or a seminar, or just by doing a job.You should know that employers spend more time looking at soft skills in the resume since hard skills are easier to develop in a person through training and the job itself. Here’s what soft and hard skills a resume for a virtual assistant should contain:Soft skills: Communication, Time Management, Office Management, Solution-oriented, Event Planning, Customer ServiceHard skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerPoint, Spreadsheets, Typing, Data EntryWhat you need is a combination of hard as well as soft skills, since it looks the best in a resume.SkillsClent communicationTech-savvyExperienced in event planningBookkeeping RightSkillsEfficientPowerPoint RightUSEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS TO USE WHEN WRITING YOUR VIRTUAL ASSISTANT RESUMELength of your resume â€" Longer text paragraphs in your resume won’t necessarily look as if you’ve got a lot to offer. It could easily be overwhelming for the employer and simply too much. Keep the length up to one page only, with only the most important points written.Review it â€" Before you finally send your finished resume, it wouldn’t hurt to run it by some of your friends or acquaintances who have seen a number of resumes before and can tell you whether yours is missing something, or if some parts are not necessary and can be cut.The spelling â€" Since you want your resume to seem professional and carefully written, make sure that no spelling mistakes are present. You can ask someone to proofread the text after you’ve written it, or simply download an app to do it for you in no time.Precision â€" You surely don’t want your potential employee to be confused about the things written in your resume, and wonder what you actually wanted to say. To prevent that, be clear with the information you choose to write and think twice about what belongs in the resume and what doesn’t.Bullet points form â€" As mentioned several times, this form of text is the one that is the easiest to read, which is very important when considering the large number of resumes your potential employer has to go through every day. You wouldn’t want them ignoring yours just because it would take them too long to read huge paragraphs of text, right?Font â€" Even though it may not seem as important, picking the right text font will make your resume look more put-together and professional.Languages â€" Knowledge of languages is very important for this job position, so consider adding a section about your familiarity with foreign languages and the levels of proficiency you possess.Resume template â€" Do you have a limited amount of time to finish the resume, but you still want it to be the best it can be? Climate Change And Its Effect On Our Ecosystem Essay
With the support of recent climate studies, it is safe to say that scientists across the globe overwhelmingly support that Earth’s climate change is directly related to extra greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere. The truth is that the negative impact of greenhouse gasses on climate change is having a negative effect on our ecosystem. The question researchers are now faced with is what exactly the consequences associated with these known climate changes are and what can predictive models accurately forecast? By collecting air samples from specific places and analyzing them in a laboratory scientist are able to measure greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. Scientists also measure greenhouse gasses using satellites and other instruments all around the world. Factors such as the sun, Earth’s orbit, large scale fires and volcanic eruptions affect Earth’s climate. Using models to look at all these factors scientists are able to determine how extra greenhouse gasses contribute to climate change (1). Climate change is altering the Northern Hemisphere’s polar jet stream, slowing it down and the jet stream moves from west to east. This brings colder than normal air farther south and can slow causing them to stall and dump excessive amounts of snow or rain in one area. Scientists know that Earth’s climate will continue to get warmer because humans are using more fossils fuels like, oil, coal, and natural gas more than ever before. Tuscan Columns From Roman Architecture
Tuscan Columns From Roman Architecture The Tuscan column - plain, without carvings and ornaments - represents one of the five orders of classical architecture and is a defining detail of todays Neoclassical style building. Tuscan is one of the oldest and most simple architectural form practiced in ancient Italy. In the United States, the column named after the Tuscany region of Italy is one of the most popular column types to hold up American front porches. From the bottom up, any column consists of a base, a shaft, and a capital. The Tuscan column has a very simple base upon which sets a very simple shaft. The shaft is usually plain and not fluted or grooved. The shaft is slender, with proportions similar to a Greek Ionic column. At the top of the shaft is a very simple, round capital. The Tuscan column has no carvings or other ornamentation. Fast Facts: Tuscan Column Shaft is slender and smooth, without flutes or groovesBase is simpleCapital is round with unornamented bandsAlso known as Tuscany column, Roman Doric, and Carpenter Doric Tuscan and Doric Columns Compared A Roman Tuscan column resembles a Doric column from ancient Greece. Both column styles are simple, without carvings or ornaments. However, a Tuscan column is traditionally more slender than a Doric column. A Doric column is stocky and usually without a base. Also, the shaft of a Tuscan column is usually smooth, while a Doric column usually has flutes (grooves). Tuscan columns, also known as Tuscany columns, are sometimes called Roman Doric, or Carpenter Doric because of the similarities. Origins of the Tuscan Order Historians debate when the Tuscan Order emerged. Some say that Tuscan was a primitive style that came before the famous Greek Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders. But other historians say that the Classical Greek Orders came first, and that Italian builders adapted Greek ideas to develop a Roman Doric style that evolved into the Tuscan Order. Buildings With Tuscan Columns Boone Hall Plantation, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. John Moore/Getty Images (cropped) Considered strong and masculine, Tuscan columns originally were often used for utilitarian and military buildings. In his Treatise on Architecture, the Italian architect Sebastiano Serlio (1475–1554) called the Tuscan order suitable to fortified places, such as city gates, fortresses, castles, treasuries, or where artillery and ammunition are kept, prisons, seaports and other similar structures used in war. In the United States, many antebellum plantation homes were adorned with Tuscan columns, as the Greek Revival style suited the authority demanded of the masters house. Tuscan columns projected a nos include Boone Hall in South Carolina, the Rosalie Mansion in Natchez, Mississippi, Houmas House plantation near New Orleans, Louisiana, and the 1861 Gaineswood plantation house in Demopolis, Alabama. The Long Branch Estate in Millwood, Virginia was built in the Federal style in 1813, but when porticos and columns were added around 1845, the house style became Classical (or Greek) Revival. Why? The columns, Tuscan in the North and Ionic columns in the South, are features of Classical architecture. Franklin D. Roosevelts Little White House, Warm Springs, Georgia. Bettmann/Getty Images (cropped) In the 20th century, builders in the United States adopted the uncomplicated Tuscan form for wood-framed Gothic Revival, Georgian Colonial Revival, Neoclassical, and Classical Revival homes. With simple, easy-to-construct columns, simple homes could become regal. Residential examples abound throughout the U.S. In 1932, the future president Franklin Delano Roosevelt built a home in Warm Springs, Georgia, hoping to find a cure for his polio by swimming in the warm waters of the south. FDR chose a classical approach to his Little White House, with a pediment being sustained by the strength of the Tuscan columns. Tuscan Columns on Shingled Cottage. Compassionate Eye Foundation/Getty Images Adding a portico with columns, even simple columns, can add grandeur to a home - and affect the entire style. Even the informality of shingle siding can be transformed by a simple white column. The Tuscan column is seen throughout the world in residential architecture. Carpenters could easily shave and shape long wooden pieces to desired heights. Today, manufacturers produce all types of columns from all types of materials. If you live in a historic district, however, the type of column and how its made is very important when repairs are necessary. Although the homeowner can achieve the Tuscan look with a polymer plastic column, historic preservationists encourage replacing rotted wooden columns with new wooden columns. It could be worse - remember that Tuscan columns used to be carved from marble stone, a replacement that no historic commission would enforce. Columned Porches in Salem, Massachusetts. Jackie Craven Slender and unornamented, Tuscan columns are perfect to support the height of multi-story front porches. By painting them the same color as the molding, rails, and trim, the columns become integrated into the design of a New England home. Tuscan columns can be found on many front porches across the U.S. A colonnade, or a series of columns, is often made up of Tuscan columns. The simplicity of its individual design creates a majesty when many columns are evenly spaced in rows. The colonnade at Saint Peters Square in Vatican City is a well-known example of Tuscan columns. Likewise, sections of the colonnade walkways on the Lawn of Thomas Jeffersons University of Virginia also represent the Tuscan Order. Colonnade at the University of Virginia. Jay Paul/Getty Images The Tuscan column may be Italian in origin, but Americans have embraced the architecture as their own - in large part, thanks to Americas gentleman architect, Thomas Jefferson.

Definition and Examples of the Interrobang
Definition and Examples of the Interrobang The interrobang (in-TER-eh-bang) is a nonstandard mark of punctuation in the form of a question mark superimposed on an exclamation point (sometimes appearing as ?!), used to end a rhetorical question or a simultaneous question and exclamation. A blend of the words interrogation and bang, interrobang is an old printer’s term for the exclamation mark. Though editor Martin K. Speckter is generally credited with the marks invention in 1962 (its name was suggested by a reader of Speckters magazine, Type Talks), a version of the interrobang had already been used for decades in the speech balloons of comic strips. Mac McGrew has characterized the interrobang as the first new punctuation mark to have been introduced in three hundred years and the only one invented by an American (American Metal Typefaces of the Twentieth Century, 1993). However, the mark is rarely used, and it hardly ever appears in formal writing. Examples and Observations James Harbeck Whats up with English punctuations?! Usually we have a glut, but for certain situations, we dont have a mark?! Say what?! –Where Is the Interrobang?! Songs of Love and Grammar. Lulu, 2012 Martin K. Speckter To this day, we don’t know exactly what Columbus had in mind when he shouted ‘Land, ho.’ Most historians insist that he cried, ‘Land, ho!’ but there are others who claim it was really ‘Land ho?’ Chances are the intrepid Discoverer was both excited and doubtful, but neither at that time did we, nor even yet, do we, have a point which clearly combines and melds interrogation with exclamation. –Making a New Point, or How About That . . .. Type Talks, March-April, 1962 New York Times From 1956 to 1969, Mr. Speckter was president of Martin K. Speckter Associates Inc... In 1962, Mr. Speckter developed the interrobang, since recognized by several dictionaries and some type and typewriter companies. The mark is said to be the typographical equivalent of a grimace or a shrug of the shoulders. It applied solely to the rhetorical, Mr. Speckter said, when a writer wished to convey incredulity. For example, the interrobang would be used in an expression like this: You call that a hat?! – Martin Spekter obituary: Martin K. Speckter, 73, Creator of Interrobang. The New York Times, February 16, 1988 Keith Houston [F]everish interest in Martin Speckters invention followed the release of Remingtons interrobang key [on typewriters in the 1960s]... Unfortunately, the interrobangs status as a cause cà ©là ¨bre during the late 1960s and early 1970s proved ephemeral, and its popularity reached a plateau even as Remington Rands interrobang key let the average typist make use of it. A creation of the advertising world- and considered by some an unnecessary one at that- the interrobang faced resistance in literary and academic spheres and was beset by more prosaic technical difficulties at almost every turn... [A] combination of factorsthe six-year delay in getting the new character from composition to printing; the sheer inertia of punctuation practice; doubt as to the grammatical need for a new symbol- sent the interrobang to an early grave. By the early 1970s it had largely fallen out of use, and the chance for its widespread acceptance seemed to have been missed. Shady Characters: The Secret Life of Punctuation, Symbols, and Other Typographical Marks. Norton, 2013 Liz Stinson In many ways one could say that the interrobang has now been superseded by the emoticon, which makes similar use of glyph combinations in order to add emphasis and feeling to the sentence that precedes it. –The Secret History of the Hashtag, Slash, and Interrobang. Wired, October 21, 2015 William Zinnser According to its sponsors, the [interrobang] is getting support from typographers who recommend it for its ability to express the incredibility of modern life. Well, I certainly agree that modern life is incredible. Most of us, in fact, now go through our days in a state of Really?!- if not Are you kidding?! Still, I seriously doubt if we are going to solve the problem by creating new punctuation marks. That only clutters up a language more... Besides, let in one mans interrobang and you let in every nut who is trying to express the incredibility of modern life. –For Clear Expression: Try Words. Life, November 15, 1968

Comparison of equity and common law in the field of breach of a Essay
Comparison of equity and common law in the field of breach of a fiduciary duty in a trust - Essay Example In "Junior books v Veitchi (1983) 1 AC 520" recovery of economic loss was imposed as liability. And the elements for constituting negligence such as (a) A duty of care owed by the defendant to the plaintiff (b) A bleach of that duty by the defendant (c) consequential damage suffered by the plaintiff (d) Such damages caused by the bleach are formulated. (Peter de Cruz 320) Equity is the Creation of Courts, it is innovative and it provides various quick remedies such as injunction, rescission, rectification and specific performance. Thus equity is not a separate law but it a supplement to the common law. Discretionary is common feature of equitable remedies. Equity has wider scope than the common law. The common law does not look into the conduct of the parties what is required is the claim has to proved. Once the claim is proved the damages are awarded. The common remedy in common law is awarding of damages. In Common law the courts have limited discretionary functions compared to law of equity. (Terence Ingaman 442) Common Law and equity is distinguished on concept of jurisdiction such as "Equitable property interest", "fiduciary obligation", "Unconsciousness" and "Proprietary remedies", which are the distinct concepts developed by the courts of chancery. 1. Equitable Property Interest. Where the interest in the property is vested under the law of equity such as interest in trust property, the interest of the beneficiary over the property in trust is enforceable not only against the trustee but also against the third party who acquires such property. Therefore the beneficiary interest is conceived as proprietary. The beneficiary is at liberty to convert the beneficial interest into the absolute ownership interest at any point of time. Where the interest in the property is vested under the Common law such as through transfer of property, the interest is absolute and the person can exercise such rights over the property for his sole lawful benefits. Where as in equity a trustee with equitable property right exercise his rights over the property for the benefit of the beneficiary and cannot exercised for his benefit. (Peter Cane 187) 2. Unconscionable Conduct: Chancery courts are conscience. As discussed in earlier topic the liability under the common law is strict liability caused due to reasonable misconduct or tortuous act. The Chancery courts under the law of equity are liberal in granting the remedies extending to suspected conduct. Unconscionable act is related to the strict liability to fiduciary and the negligence is to the strict liability in tort. The common law provides remedies to those subjected to harm due to negligence of others where as the law of equity stretches further and provides the relief against the unfair advantage taken by the others. (Peter Cane 191) 3. Fiduciary obligations: Fiduciary obligations are created in trust. The fiduciary in relation to the trust property must act for the benefit of the beneficiary but not for the benefit

Exploring the Potential Health Effects of Exposure to Electric and Research Paper
Exploring the Potential Health Effects of Exposure to Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMFs) - Research Paper Example Current appliances like radio and television rely on EMFs for their functioning. EMFs have a substantial technological value. Figure 1. Highest 60 Hz transmission voltage in North America *image taken from Nair (1989, 4) Voltage produces electric fields. Electric fields are greater when the voltage is higher. An electric field can be found in any domestic device that is connected to a source of electricity, although it is not functioning. Magnetic fields are produced by electricity running through a wire. The intensity of magnetic fields amplifies with electricity; hence, an intensified magnetic field can be found near a domestic device that operates on ‘high’ (Kheifets et al., 2006, 1532). An electrical device should be connected to a source of electricity and should be functioning to produce a magnetic field. EMFs are present in all devices that use electricity, like televisions, radios, computers, and other domestic devices. Magnetic fields linked to electrical device s are normally greater than those fields present in close proximity to power lines. Levels of EMF are greater near their source and decrease drastically with distance. This explains why there are greater EMF levels from particular domestic devices than from close by power lines (Al-Khamees, 2008, 730). All the same, most people at present are exposed to EMFs for they arise every time electricity is turned on. Throughout the recent decade, scientific research has expressed concerns about potential detrimental health impacts associated with EMFs. A number of scientists claim that it is not possible for EMFs to have any significant impacts, but others differ. Even so, since electricity is used heavily and broadly and EMF sources are in all places, every individual at present is inescapably exposed to them. Hence, identifying any health or biologic impacts that could be related to EMF exposures is profoundly crucial. It is clearly apparent why a great deal of emphasis has been placed on the likelihood that power-frequency EMFs are linked to negative impacts. Researchers who examine how people react to risk have found out that specific forms of risks draw out more forceful reactions than others. Cancer is one of the health risks that have been linked to exposure to EMFs. Children are found out to be highly vulnerable to leukemia and potential behavioral and reproductive risks (National Research Council, 1997, 17). Sources of the empirically identified EMF risks are mostly inflicted on individuals and are beyond their control. Moreover, the EMFs that are the root of the empirically identified risks are undetectable and strange to many (Office of Technology Assessment, 2002, 1). All such aspects force a lot of people to react with worry and concern to the possible hazards related to exposure to EMFs. When an essential resource like electricity is found out to be linked to detrimental health consequences, it is easy to comprehend why concerns and worries have taken pl ace. It is evident as well that the possible health impacts are simply one aspect of the concern. If tremendous efforts are exerted to lessen power-frequency EMF exposures, a substantial amount of money will have to be used up, such as to remodel domestic devices and residential electrical system, or to cover distribution and transmission lines (Mcmahan, Lutz,

Wikis: It enables the users from the whole world to update and add online content. Social networking: MySpace and Facebook are the present examples by which people can interact with their friends and update their own profile. Web application: By the help of variety of new applications users can run programs directly in a browser. 1. Making money Of course. Since the first data-scraping and sniping tools well, wait, make that since eBay first opened its APIs to developers, the eBay development ecosystem has grown with the volume of eBay transactions. eBay sellers sold $60B last year, and the 80,000 developers who helped sellers research, list, and service all those transactions also received their cut. 2. Useful technology eBay has some of the greatest technology and data assets on the web. The technology of eBay and PayPal is useful on a massive scale. PayPal has 70 million users. eBay sees 150 million unique visitors per month, and supports 70 million sellers worldwide. The developer community that provides applications for eBay sellers and buyers uses the eBay APIs to drive as much as 60% of eBay transactions. 3. Accessible technology Mark emphasized the importance of mobile applications. The eBay iPhone application is a strong start. It is clear that he believes eBay should make a powerful effort to enable mobile usage. eBay and its third-party developers still need to make some breakthroughs to enable accessibility. 4. Technology adapted to you Today, your cell phone is a communications device, an entertainment center, a mall, and a social network. Tomorrow, it may also be your wallet. Already you can instantly repay a loan to a friend who has a PayPal account. Soon, In-N-Out Burgers may accept PayPal, and you will be able to pay for your burgers at the counter from your cell phone. PayPal is uniquely adaptable for this kind of use, because it is a single global payment network, with end-to-end transaction visibility, good risk protection and fraud detection, integrated with more than 15k banks. PayPal unifies the worlds disparate money systems to enable payments anywhere. The big news in adaptable technology is that the PayPal Developer Program is opening up later in 2009. Third-party developers will use flexible APIs for sending money to create mobile payments applications that will change the way people pay for things. 5. Open platform eBay released a new developer opportunity today.SM Apps lets developers embed seller applications in ebay.com, just as you can embed applications in Facebook. The difference is that with SM Apps developers can make money, charging a one-time fee or using a subscription model for use of their application. Because the SM Apps platform uses the Gadgets specification, applications built for eBay can also operate elsewhere on the web, including on other portal pages. The Selling Manager tool has 270,000 active, paying businesses operating in the U.S. alone. As Mark said, While other platforms are trying to figure out monetization we are set up for you [the developer] to take a cut, and we hope you will. The Nature Of The Human Mind - 1415 Words
The Cogito argument, â€Å"I think, therefore I am†was a statement made by Descartes and is valid. The Second Meditation, â€Å"The nature of the human mind, and how it is better known than the body†the meditator is determined in his decision to search for uncertainty and to dispose anything that is false and contains the slightest doubt. The meditator supposes that what he sees does not exist, his memory is defective. He claims that, â€Å"†¦ he has no sense, no body, and movements and places are mistaken ideas.†The meditator says that the only sure thing remaining is that there is no certainty. He claims that the physical world does not exist, which could inforce his nonexistence. Yet, he claims that in order to have doubts, he must exist. And†¦show more content†¦The proposition, I am, I exist, is true whenever it is formulated in the mind. The cogito argument only works for thought. And individuals cannot say, â€Å"I walk, therefore I am,à ¢â‚¬ because they would have to doubt that they are walking and walking is an action. The main reason an individual cannot doubt that they are thinking, is simply because of the fact that doubt itself is a form of thought. According to Descartes’s Argument for Universal Doubt and Cogito Argument, the Cogito argument is indeed true because â€Å"Even if we assume that there is a deceiver, from the very fact that I am deceived it follows that I exist. In general it will follow from any state of thinking (e.g., imagining, feeling, sensing, reasoning) that I exist. While I can be deceived about the objective content of any thought, I cannot be deceived about the fact that I exist and that I seem to perceive objects with certain characteristics†¦ Since I only can be certain of the existence of myself as long as I am thinking, I have knowledge of my existence only as a thinking things (res cognitans).†This argument is perfectly valid. Descartes believes that, â€Å"If I am thinking, then I exist.†It cannot be the case that I can be thinking but not exist, according to Descartes, in order to for someone to be thinking they have to exist. It could be the concept that I could exist and not be thinking, but never that I am thinking and do not exist. The

Seen From Above Poem Analytical Essay - 838 Words
Analytical Essay About Poem â€Å"Seen From Above†by Wislawa Szymborska Second Draft Perceiving Real Importance Does a beetle’s death require as much thoughtful consideration as a human’s? Is a beetle only less significant as a human due to the contrasting proportions? Does size matter at all? A dead beetle lies on a path through a field and is meditated on for only a glance. The passing person then continues the right of way. Wislawa Szymborska attempts to change our ideas of death to comprehend that even small things are relevant as shown in the poem, ‘Seen From Above,’ by utilizing the imagery of the dead beetle, through claiming death’s metaphorical right of way, and with the contrast of a deceased human and a dead animal. The†¦show more content†¦The scene caused is revolting and therefore captivating. In contrast, the beetle dies with â€Å"tidiness and order.†Its legs are neatly crossed and no mess it produced. What the beetle signifies, is that meaningless things in life will nevertheless stay meaningless. As it is on a different leve l of importance, it will stay that way, no matter how orderly it actually is. Through the utilization of irony, the large physical contrast between the unlike deaths and the difference in the importance of the two things are clearly intelligible. One should learn to not just disregard small things, but to give them consideration as well. Every single thing has a history to it, which should not be ignored, but acknowledged with intention. Through the metaphor claiming the right of way, Szymborska expresses that humans need to be more attentive and consider smaller things as well. After having discovered the beetle lying on her path, she meditates on what she believes is right. â€Å"Important matters are reserved for us, for our life, and our death, a death that always claims the right of way.†(19-21) This person clearly believes that the importance of humans is at a higher stage than that of an animal. The beetle is given one glance before it has becomes irrelevant history from the past. As this person is walking through the field, without any further thought afterShow MoreRelatedT.S.
